Maywood FFA Advisor
Maywood FFA Chapter has had a promising start for
the year. Our events that we have done so fall this year are
Area Land Judging where Tate Hartley and Paige Wood
recieved white ribbons, Von Fritsche received a blue ribbon,
and Tucker Hartley received a purple ribbon and qualified
for State Land Judging. The team of Tucker Hartley, Von
Fritsche, Rebel Sjeklocha, and Paige Wood received a blue
ribbon. Then at State Land Judging, Tucker Hartley was
37th and received a white ribbon. The Maywood FFA
Chapter had the opportunity to take Tucker Hartley, Kaely
Perkins, Von Fritsche, Rebel Sjeklocha, Tate Hartley,
and Wacey Flack to National Convention in Indianapolis,
Indiana. Members attended leadership sessions, toured the
Dallara Indycar Factory, & toured the Indiana Grand where
members were able to watch several horse races. The chapter
hosted the annual Feed The Farmer and fed around 150
local farmers and ranchers. The next day, several members
competed at the BerMis Livestock Judging Competition.
Tucker Hartley got third in the individual senior division
and the senior team of Tucker Hartley, Bryar Gerlach, Von
Fritsche, and Rebel Sjeklocha earned third place. The junior
team placed 4th.
Upcoming events to finish out the fall semester for the
Maywood FFA Chapter include our fall district Career
Development Events, fruit & meat sales, district Leadership
Skills Events, & our annual pork loin dinner on December
16. Our Maywood FFA Booster club will also be hosting
their annual Bull Fry on Saturday, November 19th at the
Maywood Community Hall. The spring is jam packed with
state degree reviews, spring CDE events, National FFA
week, leadership conference, state convention, and our
annual FFA banquet planned for April 24th.

Wallace FFA - The Future is Bright in Wallace, Nebraska
The Wallace FFA Chapter recently took a trip to Husker
Harvest Days in Grand Island. This was a fun day that
proves to be both educational and informative. We get to
see the latest farm and ranch technology, as well as, meet
all the vendors that proudly support FFA.
As the Wallace FFA chapter enters into the Holiday
season there are many events and competitions that we are
excited for. Recently, the chapter sent two teams to State
Range Judging. They performed very well in this. Jr. Team:
Quinn Koop, Natalie Marquardt, Meredith McCoy, Auburn
McClintock. Sr. Team: Madisyn Cutler, Maisie Kennicutt,
Caden Williams, Jacob Melton.
Also, members of the chapter will be heading to the
EDGE conference in Gothenburg.
The EDGE program focuses on new FFA members.
With the goal of teaching them about career options in
agriculture. Focusing on leadership tools that students can
use to become better leaders, community minded, and learn
more about what is possible through FFA. The officers will
also learn how to be a better ag advocates as well as build
on what they have learned through COLT. Expanding their
officer experiences thus far, and preparing for the next tasks
in the chapter officer year.
Livestock Judging is coming up Nov 8 in Curtis. This is
a fun competition and is a State qualifying event for Jr. and
Sr. teams. The chapter will also be signing up for the LSE
(Leadership Skills Events) competitions on November 30.
Students will go on to compete in an individual or team
category. This is also a State FFA qualifying event.
Wallace FFA is a vibrant and dynamic chapter. We are
a group that is always on the move and pursuing new and
exciting challenges. Our goal is to live out the belief that
agriculture is our future.
Above, is a photo of Natalie Rosentrater, a member of the Wallace FFA
chapter. Natalie has recently won a sow and her litter through an essay
contest. This contest was sponsored by Southeast Community College,
along with Aksarben, the Nebraska Pork Producers and the Iowa Pork
Producers. Congrats Natalie!
