CHICAGO — Jake Obermeyer’s goal 3:20 into overtime gave the Tri-City Storm a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Steel Friday night at the Chicago Edge Arena.
Obermeyer’s tally ended a back-and-forth game that saw four lead changes.
Tri-City’s Tomas Troliga scored 31 seconds into the game to give the Storm a 1-0 lead before Chicago answered with two goals in the second period.
The Storm’s J.P. Platisha then tied the game with his team-leading 20th goal and newcomer Michael Pilot — playing in his first game for Tri-City — scored at 6:01 of the third period to give the Storm a 3-2 lead, before Chicago’s John Swanson tied the game at 15:27 of the third.
Tri-City goalie Michael Zacharias notched his 21st win making 30 saves on 33 shots.
With the win, the Storm remain in fourth place in the United States Hockey League’s West Division with 54 points. Omaha leads the division with 69 points.
Tri-City plays Chicago again tonight (Saturday) at 7:05 p.m.
